cookie garden

Cookie Garden is a Three.js project where a 3d cactus grows, survives, or dies depending on how the user cares for it. The project uses a virtual watering interaction connected to browser cookies, allowing the site to remember when the cactus was last watered.

If the cactus is watered, it remains alive and continues to exist as a small plant. If it is left without water for 48 hours, it shrinks and eventually dies, turning the interaction into a quiet reminder of care, time, and digital responsibility.

The cactus is placed within an HDR rocky desert environment, with the background shifting between morning and daytime lighting depending on the user’s location and time. This adds a sense of place to the digital plant, connecting its survival to both the browser and the world outside the screen.
